“The most extensive, coherent and best-surviving goldrush landscape, anywhere…”

– Statement of Outstanding Universal Value for Australia's Central Victorian Goldfields

World Heritage listing will shine light on the extraordinary story of the Goldfields and place the region and Victoria on the world stage. The story of gold, of First Nations, of change, of beginnings, of innovation, impact and influence.

The story of who we are today and want to be, going forward together. Place, community, people and time, interwoven.

Our legacy for future generations.

We acknowledge the Traditional Owners whose Country includes the Victorian Goldfields Region: the Barengi Gadjin (the Wotjobaluk, Jaadwa, Jadawadjali, Wergaia and Jupagulk peoples), Dja Dja Wurrung, Eastern Maar, Taungurung, Wadawurrung, Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and Yorta Yorta Peoples.

We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging and extend that respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples today.
